As World AIDS Day Approaches...

Each year the 30/30 Project commemorates World AIDS Day on December 1st alongside millions of others across the world. Our project was founded by Julie Lewis, a 33-year survivor of the disease as a way to give back and in honor of her friends lost from the disease over the years. You can read her reflections on World AIDS Day from years past here and here. The global communities we work in have high rates of HIV, for example our clinic in Mbita, Kenya, where 1 in 3 people are HIV positive. This year, for the first time, we have been able to quantify the impact that our completed facilities are having in communities impacted by HIV/AIDS around the world. Since the start of the 30/30 Project three years ago, these facilities have administered 34,197 HIV tests, 41% of which were first time tests for patients. This year alone, our completed projects have administered 13,806 tests, 66% of which were first time. There are currently 913 HIV positive patients receiving HIV related health care at our clinic locations. We are also a proud partner of the Ndlovu Care Group as they participate in HIV vaccine trials and research in South Africa. It is incredible to see the impact that these facilities are making in communities impacted by HIV/AIDS. We are grateful to all of our supporters who help to fund these important buildings and to our partners who are working daily to care for those infected with HIV/AIDS and prevent the disease from spreading. Stay tuned for a special announcement this Friday, World AIDS Day, about a new *Seattle* partnership for 30/30 Project!
